I think the genre of street photography is phenomenal. I fear the stories of people chasing you and cursing you because you took their picture. There is so much controversy over expectations of privacy. You are dealing with the unknown.
For some reason, I feel more apt to photograph people on the streets out of town than in my own hometown. I feel more comfortable in Chicago than in New York. I tell myself, “I’m just a tourist”. Comfort is important. I once read a post about street photography that suggested starting out with a couple of drinks. Now, that would loosen you up!
