My present tangent started by looking for the song “Miss Kaba” by Erik Truffaz. The search lead me to his most recent release, Arkhangelsk. I found that he is a French contemporary jazz trumpeter, using a combination of hip hop, rock and roll and electronica in his work. It reminds you of what Miles Davis would have done, had he live a few years longer. A small amount of his music has been released in the United States, even though he is on Blue Note. Imports are expensive. “Bending New Corners” became a Silver Album in France. I may try that from Amazon. The latest release by Truffaz, Arkhangelsk, may only be a dream. I haven’t been able to crank up the import price.
